Meet Our Founder

Alison Biedron, MSc (she/her)

EQUAL Network was founded by Alison Biedron, a public health researcher and advocate committed to advancing gender equality and health equity globally. Alison’s work has spanned research, communications, and network-building across academia, civil society, and the private sector.

The motivation for EQUAL grew out of a troubling gap she witnessed; Despite incredible talent and commitment across sectors, there was no global platform connecting the people driving progress on gender and health. Researchers struggled to share findings beyond academia, advocates lacked access to evidence and policy partners, and too many innovative projects operated in silos, away from funding and international attention and contributions.

Alison created EQUAL to change that. By building an accessible digital space, the platform connects people from the farthest corners of the world. EQUAL is purpose-built to be professional, inclusive, collaborative and impactful.

Alison holds an MSc in Global Health and Development from University College London and a BA from New York University, where she studied Gender and Sexuality Studies and Global Public Health. Her experience includes work with the Institute of Health Equity alongside Professor Sir Michael Marmot, managing the Health Equity Network, and collaborating with international non-profits such as Menstrual Rights Global and The Green Companion Period Solidarity Initiative in Uganda.

Our Volunteers

This venture is only possible because of the dedication and expertise of our global volunteers. They bring an intimate, expert knowledge of local communities, global systems, and a deep commitment to rising awareness for gender equality and health equity.
